What Is Sciatica?
Sciatica is a termed used to describe a condition in which there is pain with the sciatica nerve and parts it innervates. The sciatic nerve, being the largest in the human body, starts in the lower back and runs down the hip, buttock, thigh, knee, calf and ends in the feet. Sciatica, is also known as radiating or referred pain, and is associated with numbness, tingling and burning sensations the are caused as a direct result of pressure being applied to the nerve itself. This occurs when one or all of these are present: herniated discs, subluxations, degenerating discs and/or stenosis. Sciatica can be reduced or eliminated by chiropractic care and Therapeutic rehab.
Where Does Sciatica Occur?
In most cases, sciatica usually stems from the lower back and a condition affecting this area, however in some cases, the problem can occur in the lower portion to the pelvic cavity where the nerve exits the axial spine and enters the leg.
